In the hardest moments, insurance should inspire confidence. Too often, it does the opposite.
I grew up in the Pacific Palisades. After the 2025 California wildfires, my entire childhood neighborhood was gone – the homes of my parents, friends, neighbors.
Worse yet, many people in our community couldn’t access the insurance they needed to get their lives back on track. 3/4 of survivors were underinsured; many went into debt waiting on their claims payout.
Throughout my time supporting this community, I’ve seen the same structural problems: misfit coverages, lack of records, and a difficult claims process that left survivors on their own.
We’re building Bevel to solve these problems – bringing tech experience to help build the future of personal risk. To make insurance clear, simple, and powerful.
That’s why I’m so excited to announce our $6M raise to build our private risk management solution. We’re bringing together modern technology, top agents, and strong relationships with the most reliable carriers.
I’m so grateful to build this vision alongside my co-founders and the rest of the Bevel team. Aravindh Dorai, our CTO, has been with me as our technical expert since day one. Wesley Gow and Jack Trent are our more recent co-founder additions: Wesley led sales development for a unicorn software startup; Jack Trent brings insurance expertise from years at McKinsey. We’re continuing to hire top-tier operators, software engineers, agents, and account managers to bring a new level of excellence to the world of private risk.
To the families we've served: thank you for trusting us in the hardest moments of your lives. To our team: thank you for pouring everything into this mission since day one. And to our investor partners who share our vision, thank you for believing in this before it was easy to — Shakti VC, Resolute, Bessemer, and more than a dozen notable executives across technology, investing, and insurance.
We envision a world where risk management helps our clients live their lives with confidence. Bevel thinks about risk, so our clients don’t have to.
Sincerely,
Adam Freed

Most of us don’t think much about insurance. We buy it because we are supposed to. But the world is getting more complex, and missing small nuances in insurance can have painful consequences.
I learned this the hard way. In January of last year, a firestorm burned most of my hometown – the Pacific Palisades – to the ground. With it, my childhood home, where my parents still lived, and the homes of countless friends and their families.
I started building technology with Aravindh, Bevel’s CTO, to address the problems we saw. Our most popular tool is our an AI-powered scanner that helps disaster survivors document their lost inventory for insurance claims. Thousands of disaster survivors now use it, always for free.
The twin LA fires of Eaton and the Palisades were a stark teacher. I saw how hard it was for my community to access their insurance payouts. Mostly, I saw that too many people simply had the wrong policies: outdated limits, missing coverages, or the wrong carrier for their needs.
So today, we’re excited to share that we’re tackling an even bigger problem: risk management. We’ll be helping clients understand their risk exposures, matching them with the right policies, and finding ways to make their homes and their families safer. We’re combining modern technology with concierge service to bring a new level of excellence to the world of private risk.
Aravindh and I are welcoming two new co-founders to help build this vision: Wesley Gow and Jack Trent. And we’re continuing to hire top-tier operators, software engineers, account managers, and insurance agents nation-wide.
Huge thank you to our venture investors, non-profit friends, carrier partners, and countless advisors who are helping us bring this vision to life throughout the world of insurance, tech, and wealth management.
